Server side flv encode
« on: February 13, 2007, 08:55:01 pm »

I've been doing a little research in an attempt to automatically convert uploaded video files into the flv format.

I've come across a script that will do the trick and I can currently run it manually on my server. I do not know enough about coppermine to suss out how to incorperate it so I would like to request it be included in future versions.

I have attached the current script and it works well with most video filetypes. I'm pretty sure it could very easilly be added to coppermine

*edit The script requires ffmpeg to run (free gnu download)

The script requires ffmpeg to run
Will not go into the coppermine core then, as only a small number of webservers (shared hosting) will have the minimum requirements then. Anyway, nice idea. Would be welcome as a plugin contribution.

Over the past week I have had more than 20 requests via PM for support on this project.

Unfortunately I have not got the time to finish the work involved in creating a mod for coppermine to fully integrate this. Please feel free to take the code and work on a mod yourself then show us all the completed work in the Mods section. It shouldn't be too difficult as it's working well as a stand alone package.

Please do not PM me for support as I just have not got the time. Sorry.

Sorry to fill the thread GauGau

I can fully understand that you replied the way you did. I find it very selfish from all those people who PMed you, asking to be spoon-fed. This is a suppor board, not a mailing list. Your posting clearly shows that we should remove the PM feature from this forum entirely, as it get's abused so much.

@all those jerks who PMed Phil: stop it, will you? There is no support by PM nor email!
