Could not create a mySQL connection, please check the SQL va

On trying to install get this error message. :oops:

Could not create a mySQL connection, please check the SQL values entered

MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

Any help appreciated.

phpBB2 installs, and runs properly on this server, with no problems.  Phpinfo tells me that the socket is correct.  I can log into mysql through telnet with no problems.

Works fine.  Now have a problem with integration with phpBB2, but can fix that somehow.  

Thanks for the help.  Looks like a great product, much improved since I last looked at it.
