After the upgrade - i have problems with german "umlaut" (letters like Ä,ä,Ö,ö,Ü,ü, and ß)! In place of its a question mark stands!

The Upgrade ran however without problems.

- Backup Database and Files anycontent.php and include/config.inc.php
- Delete all files and copy the new version
- copy the old anycontent.php and include/config.inc.php over the new ones
- http://www.domain.de/gallery/update.php

I still forgot - German and unicode is adjusted!

Can someone help me?

We have same kind of problems with äöå etc. I updated our gallery (http://www.fireimages.net/gallery) from 1.3.5 to 1.4.2 and all usernames, comments. titles and so on are missing "scandinavian letters". I changed from iso-8859-1 to unicode and temporarily translated language file by just inserting new parts to old finnish.php.

We have over 11000 images and 42000 comments, and all "Old insertions" into gallery are broken.

Is there "easy" way to convert all old parts to unicode?

charsetmgr.php is supposed to make the changes.

If this doesn't work, you can use phpMyAdmin and export (with DROP TABLES) your database as utf-8 and then re-import it as latin1.
(example in french here)

Your site is already configured to use utf-8. You don't need this script and should leave this page.

Still another addition:

After I changed the character set over from unicode to Western (iso-8859-1), the entries from the data base are correct! But in the Admin attitudes the text is now represented as follows:

It should work for all iso-8859-1 languages

There my complete side with iso-8859-1 was provided, has I tries the gallery over again to iso-8859-1 (from utf) to change.

So far so well! But Buttons as "löschen" look now "löschen"!

Perhaps someone can give me a tip!

Hey,

I've got a problem here, too.
I uploaded the new cpg to a sub folder and performed the updates.
The Update worked fine, but the "umlauts" (letters like ä ö ü ß and so on) are shown as a "?"

I tried to call charsetmgr, but that did not help.
I checked if the conversion to western would help, but before converting I saw that I would loose a lot of my data (data breaks up, e.g. "hüttenparty" becomes "h" or "Après Ski Party" becomes "Apr")


Well,
any hint here would be greatly apreciated.
