« on: November 23, 2005, 11:00:40 pm »

The coppermine group is proud to announce the release of cpg1.4.2 as stable. Thanks to everyone who contributed to it, both developers and testers.

Please don't post individual support requests or possible bug reports as a reply to this thread, it is reserved for announcement and news purposes only.

As usual, cpg1.4.2 is the best coppermine version ever, we hope that you enjoy it as much as we did creating it.

I dunno if i got lucky or just simply perfect timing of sorts but at any rate congrats all those who put their toil and efforts into the code and fine tuned yet another incredible version to release.

Where do I find out if 1.4.2 has the option of allowing users to delete their own images? Or if the option can be set by admin to allow this? I'm looking in the manual but I'm not seeing it if it's there.

Thanks. And I really look forward to upcoming versions also.

It's there.

Allow users to retain control over their pics in public galleries

When enabled, both the admin and the uploading user can edit and delete files that were uploaded to a public gallery. Of course the user must have permissions to upload to the public gallery in the first place (see the groups control panel) before this option will have any effect.

It's a user contributed modification that goes unsupported by the dev team.

stop asking questions like that, this is an announcement thread. You have already expressed your desire for such a mod to go into the core code, while the devs have expressed in various threads already that they won't add such a feature into the core. This discussion is futile, especially on this thread that deals with a package release. We have a whole sub-board dedicated to feature requests.

This may seem like a stupid question, but since 1.4.2 is now stable, why isn't there info on the homepage about it replacing 1.3.5? While I'm excited about the news, I came upon this announcement quite by accident...

Also, didn't see in the features list or screenshots that admin can reorder images within an album (aside from by title and dates that is). Is that part of 1.4.2?

Thanks for all your hard work!  :)

simply because I didn't have the time to update the homepage yet - cpg1.4.2 has been released only yesterday, and there's a lot of stuff that needs to be done to reflect the new version. Please bear with me, my day only has 24 hours. ;)

Thanks GauGau. I'm sure there's tons of stuff to do in releasing a new version, and I bet you needed some well-deserved rest after completing it!  ;)  Just wanted to make sure "stable" does indeed mean it's ready for public consumption.

Also, is this the right place to bring up my question about ability to reorder images within an album (aside from by title and dates that is) in 1.4.2?  I didn't see that in the new features list or screenshots...

Hehe, I don't take a rest right now, I just have to earn money sometimes as well (darn, I have a regular paying job ;))...

Yes, that's what it means.

No, this is the wrong place. In fact, the very first posting on this thread should give you an idea what to post here.

@all: please keep this thread clean! Don't clutter it with individual questions. In fact, don't post questions here at all, unless they're directly related to the release itself (the act of releasing the package). If you have questions on features or you need support, start your own thread (of course after having read the docs and searched the board first). However, you're welcome to post here if you actually like the new package or say some warm words ;).

Geez, I just got 1.3.x figured out sorta, lol.

Seriously, thanks for the continued blood, sweat and tears.  I want you to know that there are a lot of good people out there that appreciate your (dev team) hard work, and the support you give us.

Not to many Issues for a stable release ???
Some of them are very serious...
My question is, when do you plan to fix these all?
Thanks

7. Known Issues
The following slight quirks and tiny issues are known and will hopefully be fixed in future releases.

Quote
The arrows used for navigation from one pic to the other display in the wrong order for rtl-languages
Keyword list returns incorrect result for asian characters
Browser bug: IE displays 100%-width values incorrectly
New batch-add interface doesn't work on all server setups. Users who have issues with it should use the classic interface instead.
Missing Query in debug output: the value for $CONFIG['debug_mode'] is not yet set before the first query to the config table
Page tabs in user manager don't behave in the same way as other tabs
Resizing gif/png with transparent background doesn't preserve alpha info
Weird characters on mouseover tooltips in other browsers than IE
Wrong charset in emails sent from coppermine
Language fallback not working for util.php and faq.php
Hardcoded charset in xp_publisher.php
Thumbnail sizes over 120px causes edit fields to run over it's edge
No album thumbnails for albums that contain only pics linked by keyword
Possible stability issues with PHP5 and plugins
Crop/rotate doesn't work with GD1
Rotate causing distorted image for large files
Search Engine Frienldy URLs plugin is not working flawlessly, it's still experimental
<object><param></param></object> construct for multimedia files doesn't validate but is needed for backwards compatibility
Nuke check in installer needs improvement
EXIF and IPTC information are lost when rotating
Banned group doesn't work as expected
Album created using XP publisher despite upload failure
Hebrew translation still incomplete
No category thumbnail for user galleries and categories that don't contain albums with pics in it, but only sub-categories
SEF plugin breaks custom sort order
