making intermediate image at a later stage.
« on: October 27, 2004, 03:44:19 pm »

Hi friends,

I had cpgfor cms and have passed to cpg 1.3.2 standalone.
Due to space problems I used to not make intermediate images in my earlier install.
Now I wish to make them, is it possible to make them now for the older images.

My problem is that if I only make intermediate pictures from now onwards, they will be named with normal_ as given if the config options.
as my older pictueres don't have this prefix they don't show in the image window only a link to the original image.

How could I solve this mess that I have put myself into.

In the config I have deleted the _normal prefix option for the intermediate pictures so now I can see the images, but I' d like to make the intermediate images as the original image have different sizes and they spoil thelook of the gallery.
Thanks for your help.

You can make all the normal images now.

Go into config, and set the sizes etc as you want them, then go to admin tools, and choose 'Update thumbs and/or resized photos'
Select 'Only re-sized pics', and then apply this to each album in turn.

Coppermine will then re-make all the existing normal images, and create them where they don't exist but will be needed.

Hi.

Does this also work other way around, I would like to get rid of my intermediate images so i clicked "dont create intermediate images" and after that I try to apply what Casper mention, "go to admin tools, and choose 'Update thumbs and/or resized photos'
Select 'Only re-sized pics', and then apply this to each album in turn."

Now album shows that its working on images but nothing happen and its been doing that for 15 min now.
Should that work with other themes also, I have currently Singapore installed.

So in other words, how can i get rid of intermediate images that are already created?

no... it only recreates the resized pics. It doesn't delete.
you can do that in commandline (for *nix systems go to your albums folder and type 'rm -R normal_*' )

Thanks for your info.

I have my album in providers server, so is it possible/safe to just delete intermediate images through ftp program? I notised that album creates thumbs, intermediate and originals all in same folder so it would be easy to locate those pics.

Now when I test my gallery it dont show intermediate images anywhere so with my logic it should be safe to just delete them???

once pics exist in coppermine's database, you should only access them using FTP if you really know what you're doing. In any case: make a backup first before deleting anything.
