Download and install v2.1 of the Filetypes Editor plugin.

Use the plugin to change the player type for mp3 files from Windows Media Player to HTML5 audio tag.

Double post: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,79562.0.html

It seems we're talking about ogg files instead of mp3 files. Not all browsers support html5 playback of ogg files (https://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_audio.asp).

I think I have the same problem. Also please can anyone explain why on the Coppermine demo site the audio player control (Start/pause/volume etc) is displayed for the ogg file example but not for the mp3 or midi files. I have exactly the same on my coppermine gallery. The result is that the mp3 or midi files cannot be played. I have tried this on Firefox and my smart phone and it is the same. Thanks for any help.

The demo runs cpg1.5.x, while you have replied to a cpg1.6.x thread. Which Coppermine version have you installed?

I believe mine to be 1.5x though I have been unable to find where it displays the version. I now realise I have posted the comment in the wrong place. Sorry.

I have uploaded the plugin cpg1.5.x_plugin_filetypes-editor_v2.0.zip (I used the ftp method as I the other method would not work possibly due to my host) but when I try to install it I get this message "Could not determine the version requirements for this plugin. This is usually an indicator that the plugin was not designed for your version of Coppermine and might therefore crash your gallery. Continue anyway (not recommended)? (Filetypes editor)" So I did not continue. Any thoughts please? Should I try the 1.6xversion but I thought this was still in development? I don't know how to find out which version of Coppermine I have. I installed it from Go Daddy and updates are supposed to be automatic. Thank you.

Can you please provide a link to your gallery?

https://biblenotes.online/coppermine/thumbnails.php?album=14
and this is the page where I would expect the player to show above the filmstrip...
https://biblenotes.online/coppermine/displayimage.php?album=14&pid=304#top_display_media
Hope that works. Thank you for any help.

I understand what to do now and it is working OK. Thank you very much and I apologise for my ignorance.

I’ve marked your thread as solved. For future reference there is a button at the bottom of the page so you can do that yourself,

It would be great if you could leave a note saying what you did to fist the problem. It really helps others that may search the forums looking for the same solution.

Actually, this wasn't verdon's thread, but it was just hijacked by him/her. FYI, verdon's gallery runs cpg1.5.42, which means it misses 3 security releases.

However, IMHO the initial "issue" should be solved by the hint that ogg files aren't supported by all browsers.
