Title: Not asking someone for a password
Post by: yuppicide on April 13, 2017, 06:32:28 pm
I've got a gallery up here:

http://www.peppermint-bay.com/catalog/

I'm running 1.5.44 (I see there's an upgrade so I'll take care of that soon).

I have 3 albums on it, password protected. It works fine for me. I've had it up for many years. When you try and click a gallery to view it prompts you for a password and has a submit button.

It's not a big deal if people get in without a password, but we'd prefer they can't.

We give out this link:

http://www.peppermint-bay.com/catalog/thumbnails.php?album=33

It will take you directly to our latest catalog, prompt you for password to hit submit. It will already be filled in if you've visited the site before.

I've tried Chrome, Slimjet, Android phone (Chrome), Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge. They all prompt me for a password.

I have a Sales Rep in Florida who uses Firefox and a customer of hers (not sure what she uses) that say it never prompted her for a password. Doesn't even show her that password submit screen.

Is this possible that they're somehow logged in forever and that's why it doesn't show it?

I can only assume that their cookies are doing the authentication. Have you tried on one of the affected machines deleting the cookies?
