You've done nothing wrong.  You've likely hit a limitation of your server.  You may do well to try this alternate upload method:
http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,75927.0.html
It overcomes some server limitations like that.

You should probably have installed the latest version (1.3.6) ;)
Are you allowing users to make uploads like this? If not, and ftp'ing works okay for you, you can always stick with that.
I think a 250MB file is going to take about 35 minutes for you no matter how you upload it.

Just to add some maths to the above, a 250MB file is 2000 megabits. So at 1mbps that is 33.3 minutes, roughly.

May I suggest you convert your AVI to a file format that is a bit smaller? Converting it to one of the compressed formats will save a lot of time and bandwidth.

If you decide to convert to a different format, I suggest to convert it to a HTML 5 compatible format (http://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_video.asp), preferably H.264/MP4: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5_video#Browser_support

This is an error that represents a problem on your server. Either there is a configuration problem at your service provider or your account is violating some restriction. Is there a quota on how much data can be stored in your account? Perhaps you have reached your quota.

Have you tested another upload method directly after it worked with single upload? If not, please try again with a small file on all available upload methods (simple, flash, html5) and report the result. I want to exclude a temporary issue with your server.

Unfortunately you haven't done what I asked for. If you want the HTTP upload to be fixed, please provide the information I requested in my last post. Alternatively, you (as admin) can always upload files via FTP.

I've uploaded a few large files to web sites based on Coppermine and run into issues.  Since it doesn't come up for me that often I just add manually.

Here's how I've been successful:

FTP the file to the desired user's folder in the albums folder (/albums/userpics/1xxxx) then add a record by hand to the database table that has all the pics (cpg15x_pictures).
