Title: Someone to fix error messages/update?
Post by: Lauren15 on June 27, 2015, 06:05:31 pm
Using a very old version of Coppermine that I installed in 2006. It was going back and forth on working fine then getting the "Fatal error :" message. I turned on debug mode and researched for a few hours with no luck. Tried installing a newer version which messed it up even further, reuploaded my backup, and now I can only get "There was an error while processing a database query" while trying to view an image.

Honestly, I've been out of the web developing game for a few years and I've already wasted a few hours trying to fix this. I don't really mind what version I'm using, I just need it to work without the constant "Fatal error :" message. Not really sure what the appropriate pay would be, I was thinking around $25 but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Lauren,
You will likely need to (and really should) upgrade to current version/release...
I expect from 2006 you are running a 1.4.x version - and that will have issues as your ISP upgrades PHP versions at least.
The actual database error should be viewable by turning on debug mode.

The work needed to upgrade depends on how old your Coppermine install is (1.3 to 1.4 changed the themes significantly), how many plugins or other mods you are using - and whether those same plugins/mods exist for 1.5.x (or may be included in core code now...)

Sending an email with additional information if you want to pursue someone to do the work for you...
