add to favourites from thumbnail view
« on: February 18, 2011, 05:04:08 pm »

moved from permissions. my mistake.

hi there,

i found links relating to this for v1.3 but didn't apply to the latest version.

i need to be able to allow my registered visitors to click a "add to favourites" link on the thumbnail page so they can download the zip of their favourite images. The link at the bottom of the image description isn't obvious enough and also makes my users re-login when wanting to view their favourites.

can you point me in the right direction.

thanks in advance, daz

Post links
When posting a support request, it's helpfull for supporters in most cases to see what the actual page looks like, that's why it's mandatory that you always post a link to your coppermine gallery page when asking for support. If your site contains adult content, make sure to post a warning together with your link!
Supporters might get into issues if they accidentally visit a page that interferes with their employer's internet policy. If your site contains adult content (even mild nudity even falls into this category), post the words "not safe for work" next to the link.

Did you check this plugin?

it was an unintentional double post.  i posted it in the wrong category and wasn't able to move it. i should have deleted it.

i'll take it that you can't help.

Did you try the plugin metioned above - http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,63623.msg315953.html#msg315953

Not quite what you are after but maybe it could be modified to fit your needs?

i did look at that plugin and i think i can utilize it.

my main aim was to have an "add to favourites" icon link next to each thumbnail. i want it to be more of an add to lightbox for downloading specific images instead of the whole folder.

although the "add to favourites" link is in the description details on the intermediate image, it's just not visible enough for my users.  a star icon next to the thumbnail with the link embedded would be perfect.

thanks for your help.

i've successfully added the plugins to add a folder to favourites and the one to remove images from favourites without any problems.

the next problem is server error 550 when trying to download that folder full of favourites. i suspect it's a problem with permissions but i could be wrong as i can still download small folders of say 6 images.

any suggestions.

(my galleries are private for commercial customers only, and i want to work through all problems before releasing, hence no link posted)

Probably the memory limit exceeds, as cpg1.5.x creates the zip file in the RAM. Nibbler changed that behavior for cpg1.6.x, so you can try to apply that change to your gallery. If it doesn't work you have to increase the PHP memory limit or download fewer files at once.

interesting!    i had a look at my php info and it said in the configuration php core - memory limit 128M.

surely that's big enough?  that's if i'm looking in the right place.  In order to change the suggested tweak, which file is it in?

Hoorah, it works. Thank you.   A 50MB file with 28 images all complete with IPTC info embedded.  Each image is around 300 pixels longest side and compressed to around 1.7MB (an action i set before uploading)

Now i need to work on a favourites link per image.
