I haven't uploaded my gallery since April 5 and today I wanted to add some photos.  They uploaded fine from SmartFTP but when I went to add batch files I added them to their categories and hit enter and what showed up was a bunch of x's.  I clicked on them and it says, "Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image."  Please help.

This is not a hotline, give it at least a day or two. Have you the correct permissions set? Do regular HTTP Uploads work?

FIRST AND FOREMOST: CHECK YOUR PERMISSIONS ON THE /ALBUMS, /ALBUMS/USERPICS, AND /ALBUMS/EDIT DIRECTORIES.  ALL SHOULD BE 777 OR 755.

If you don't know what we mean when we write 777 or 755,  you need to do a Google search on UNIX file permissions.  Windows has a similar set of file permissions. You can usually set these permissions using your FTP client.     

I cannot check regular uploads because the test user account you posted does not the permmission to upload files, please correct this or test regular uploads yourself.

I had the same problem.. Check under config.  Files and thumbnails settings ...Max width or height of an intermediate picture/video **   mine got set to 1... i changed it to 400 and now i can upload. hope it works for you..

This helped me!  All that other stuff didn't work.  Thanks to whoever wrote this!
