The new Nikon D300 is now available, and seems to be a very nice camera. But there is still previous version, Nikon D200, which is also less expensive. What do you think of these two cameras ?

For my opinion, depends firstly on your budget, and how you love photography.
Both are great cameras, but i'll prefer spending more money on good lens, than spend lot of money to buy the last and fashion body Wink

D200 + good lens

Hello

D200 at 100% if you can buy a second hand camera !
And of course a D300 if you have enough money to buy a new one !

I just see on zeeBay some nice D200 at a very nice price.

But do'nt forget, the most important are always the lens  Wink

Good Luck  Grin

Good day everyone!

Nikon D200 was introduced on November 1, 2005, it has the robust build quality, 10.2 million pixel CCD sensor and a compact design. While The Nikon D300 is a 12.3-megapixel professional [1] DX format digital single-lens-reflex (dSLR) camera and introduced last August 23, 2007. D300 is slightly more compact. Offers high resolution and high speed (being able to capture 6 frames per second, and 8 frames per second with the addition of an optional MB-D10 battery pack).

This is quite an old thread so things have changed a lot since then.

If you have no current lenses then you should narrow down your choices to whatever models are in your price range and that have the features you require. Once you have done that, go and try those models in a shop and choose the one you find most comfortable to use. The top brands are all very close in spec making the most important thing IMO is how intuitave the model is for you and only you can make that choice.
