Right now the permission system is rather basic. I can only assign one group to an album.

For example if I have 3 groups - family friends and school

and i want an album like school pics to be viewable by friends and school (without making friends users part of the school group since there are things they wont see) I need to make another group called
"friends and school" and then set that for the album and give all those users in friends or school access to the friends and school group

It would also be nice if you could set permissions for categories and albums as well as disallow certain groups access to certain photos.

So basically just more a advanced and configurable permissions system. Love everything else though - great system!

Thanks Smiley

I provide support for coppermine here, nowhere else. If you pm or email me, without first asking, the message will go directly to the bin, without being answered.

Enhanced album permissions are being discussed for the next major milestone.  It involves a major change to database structure and code changes to many files.  The individual file permissions probably won't make it though.  Category restrictions haven't been discussed yet but is a possibility.

It won't be in the next release (1.4), this will be in version 2.  Too much work for 1.4.   Wink

A really agree with this feature!

If implemented, I promise that I will _never_ consider Menalto Gallery again  Wink

I use Coppermine in a sports club homepage. It has grown very much in popularity and I really need to find a way to allow certain users to administer some individual albums that are outside the "User galleries area". I suppose that Coppermine v2 is quite far away. The current version is 1.3. 1.4 is to be released soon and requirements for 1.5 are being discussed. I do not expect Coppermine v2 to be available within 2005, but I'm patient Wink

I would also love this feature. Just tested cpgNG, and it has improved alot.
Too bad they have not yet implented this feature. A mod has been posted ( by I believe Abbas Ali) that offers you this
feature for 1.4. Perhaps this would be your solution. Still i would like to see this feature implemented into the core or as a plugin for the new generation of coppermine.

You mention a mod that might do this - can you point me to the URL? I've not had any luck finding it on my own.

Thanks!
